The Foundation relies on the ongoing generosity of all our donors, who each have their own personal reasons for supporting Northern Health.
Associate Professor Bill van Gaal, Northern Health’s Director of Cardiology, with the support of his colleagues, recently organised a workplace donation in excess of $7,000 to support the completion of two new Cath Labs. ‘We knew that the labs were being constructed on a very tight budget, and that there were some things that were going to fall outside that budget,’ Assoc. Prof. van Gaal says. ‘There were two things in particular that we thought were really important: the first was a storage cabinet worth around $5,000 so that we could adequately store our equipment away. The second was a sound system so that our patients can bring their own music in to listen to during procedures, which, particularly for younger patients, because it really helps them to relax.’
Assoc. Professor van Gaal raised the issue with the five other Interventionalists who will work in the lab this year, and each agreed to make an individual contribution of $1,200 to secure the items. ‘We all take a lot of pride in the cardiology department and the service we provide,’ Assoc. Prof. Van Gaal says. ‘We want to do our best with the new labs and we were all happy to give something to make it even better.’
Assoc. Prof. van Gaal believes everyone has the power to make a difference. ‘Even though your individual contribution might be small, if we all contribute we can make a significant difference,’ he says.
Workplace giving is an easy way to show your support and the regular donations we receive through the program add up to make a big difference. For more information please contact Ryan Brown: firstname.lastname@example.org or ph 8405 2313.
