Community Fundraising

We’re always grateful to the efforts of our local community groups and individuals who fundraise on our behalf and we endeavour to do as much as we can to provide support for their events.

We encourage our local community to support the Foundation by arranging an event.  Events are a great way to bring people together, have fun and at the same time, raise important funds for Northern Health.  Whether an individual, school, club, group or company, there are many ways you can become involved.

Local Kilmore Resident, Bev Carman, through her group CanDo holds a fun and entertaining Oaks Day Luncheon each year at Kilmore Trackside.

Local Epping Resident, Josie Minniti, through her group Josie Minniti Fun Group for Cancer holds a number of fundraising activities, including an Annual Dinner, which is well attended by her loyal supporters.

Foundation Board Member, Trudi Hay arranges an annual High Tea and fashion parade in a beautiful setting, raising funds for oncology services.

The Blue Ribbon Foundation honours the memory of members of Victoria Police killed in the line of duty.  The Blue Ribbon Foundation Northern Metro Branch is currently involved in fundraising activities to support Northern Health.  Detective Sergeant John Capewell, President of the Northern Metro Branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation says he and his team look forward to making a difference. ‘We are proud to have the opportunity to recognise a police officer, while at the same time raising funds that will enhance health services provided to the northern community’.

Northern Health received a generous donation of $15,000 in May from local fundraising group The San Padre Pio Committee.  The donation helped Northern Health purchase six Princess Chairs to benefit patients at The Northern Hospital. The therapeutic chairs will be used by hundreds of patients each year and provide support and relief for patients with limited physical mobility as well as help to minimise pressure sores and reduce the risk of falling.  The San Padre Pio Committee President Diodoro Ferraro said the group made the donation to Northern Health as they wanted to “give back to the community.”

The Northern Health Foundation BECC Group (The Busy Fingers Group) has existed for over 35 years and has raised well over $1.5 million for Bundoora Extended Care Centre (BECC). The group raises funds though their craft and gift shop at BECC.

The Northern Health Foundation Epping Group conduct various fundraising activities, including raffles, stalls and sausage sizzles.

If you are interested in joining the Northern Health Foundation BECC, Epping or Broadmeadows Groups, please email volunteer@nh.org.au or call 8405-2897.
